SERVICE & WARRANTY PLAN TERMS
SERVICES: The Company agrees to provide the Customer with the services outlined in the selected Service & Warranty Plan.
A Standard Service will include:
A. Initial Inspection. Check for wear or damage on forks, wheels, chassis and handle. Inspect for oil leaks or any loose/missing parts. Verify the battery’s general condition.
B. Battery & Charging System: Test battery voltage and condition (including water levels if it’s a lead-acid battery). Inspect and lean battery terminals and connectors. Check charger function and cable integrity.
C. Electrical System. Inspect wiring for wear, corrosion or disconnection. Test key switch, control buttons, and display functionality. Check operation of drive and lift motors.
D. HYDRAULIC SYSTEM. Inspect hydraulic fluid levels and refill if necessary. Check for leaks inhoses, fittings, and the hydraulic cylinder. Ensure the lift and lower functions work smoothly and at the correct speed.
E. Mechanical Components. Examine forks for bends and cracks. Inspect load wheels and drive wheels for wear or damage. Check steering functions and lubrication of moving parts.
F. SAFETY FEATURES. Test emergencies stop and horn. Verify the operation of any safety interlocks or reversing buttons. Confirm all decals and warning labels are legible and in place.
G. Functionality Testing. Operate the truck under load to ensure all systems work as expected. Evaluate brake responsiveness and lift/lower speed.
H. Report and Recommend. The technician should provide a service report detailing any work done. Recommendations for repairs or part replacements if needed.
I. OPTIONAL: Software Diagnostics (if applicable). Some modern electric pallet trucks have onboard diagnostics that require a scan tool or software to identify issues.
J. Regular Servicing (every 6-12 months or based on hours used) helps extend the lifespan of your pallet truck and ensures it remains safe and reliable.
SERVICE & WARRANTY PLAN EXCLUSIONS
A standard electric pallet truck service & warranty plan usually covers routine maintenance and inspections, but several items are typically not included unless specified or added under an extended premium plan. Here’s what’s usually excluded:
A. Major Repairs & Replacement Parts. Replacement of worn-out or damaged parts (e.g. wheels, forks, hydraulic cylinders). Repairs to motors, controllers or drive units. Any labour or parts not related to standard maintenance
B. ACCIDENT OR MISUSE DAMAGE. Repairs caused by operator error, crashes, or overloading.Damage from improper use ie: as water ingress or using the truck outdoors when not rated for it.
C. CONSUMABLES. Replacement of consumables like: Wheels or tires, hydraulic flue (unless part of scheduled maintenance), fuses, bulbs or battery water.
D. BATTERY REPLACEMENT. The service may check and maintain the battery, but battery replacement due to wear, sulfation, or improper maintenance is usually not included.
E. Software Updates or Diagnostics. If the pallet truck requires manufacturer-specific software updates or diagnostics, these are often extra or only available under premium service agreements.
F. TRANSPORT FEES. Costs for transporting the pallet truck to and from the service centre (if not done on-site) may not be included.
2. SERVICE AND WARRANTY PLANS: The Customer acknowledges and agrees to the specific terms and conditions associated with the chosen Service & Warranty Plan (see SHS Service & Warranty Plans brochure or visit shshandlingsolutions.com).
3. SHS Service & Warranty Plans are suitable for brand-new trucks up to 2 years of age, including trucks not purchased from SHS. Trucks older than 2 years will only be eligible if they have received the initial annual service during their first 2 years, however, they will not be eligible for the extended warranty under the Service & Warranty Plan.
4. Duration of Service & Warranty Plan: The duration of the Service & Warranty Plan is an initial 24 months, applicable to all brand-new equipment. After the initial 24 months, the Agreement will automatically renew for another 24 months; with exceptions to the Service & Warranty Plan including Extended 2-Year Warranty, Spare Parts – Key and Load Wheels, Onboarding Online Call and Onboarding Site Visit.
5. Pricing: The price quoted in this agreement is a total price agreement. The total price includes ALL trucks enrolled. Each truck enrolled in the Service & Warranty Plan will incur a separate charge as specified in the pricing schedule and Quote.
Monthly Payments: An Online Form to set up the Direct Debit can be found in the link below. The customer should complete the setup authorising monthly amounts due and payment dates. 5. COMMITMENT PERIOD: The Customer agrees to a minimum commitment of 24 months for the Service & Warranty Plan. Early termination of this agreement is not permitted unless specified under the termination clause.
7. Payment Obligation: The Customer is obligated to make monthly payments for the full term of the agreement. Non-use of the service does not exempt the customer from this obligation.
7. COOLING OFF PERIOD AND CANCELLATION RIGHTS: You have the right to cancel this Agreement within 45-days without giving any reason. The cancellation period will expire after 45 days from the start date. To exercise the right to cancel, you must inform Us of your decision to cancel this contract by clear statement (e.g. letter sent by post or email) or contact us by phone on 0800 619 0800.
Cancellation request made after the cooling-off period has expired will be accepted; however, only a partial refund will be issued, based on the remaining value of the plan.
